Copper Giants worked with Farthest Star Sake Brewing Co. to expand their sci-fi themed brand with a series of AI-generated pulp noir novels. Everything from the book titles, story lines, character names/personalities/backstories, and every bit of artwork was meticulously prompted and re-prompted by humans, and executed by ChatGPT and Midjourney. Sake is at the heart of each plot line, is the central motivation for each character, and serves as a delicious MaCguffin throughout. An instant hit with customers, we are already hard at work at a second batch of kitschy sci-fi pulp noir novels.

When it comes to AI and creativity, our POV is to dig in, learn the tools, and find novel ways to do better, more interesting work. And since everything on this godforsaken space rock has gone digital, using bleeding edge tools to revive the lost are of putting ink to actual paper was a perfect way to boost the Farthest Star Sake brewery brand and in-person experience. Sure “Readable Entertainment” is just a fancy way of saying “books,” but to make real, physical media felt refreshing in a world where everyone is fighting through phone addiction, felt particularly relevant to our current era.

The insight here was to leverage the brand at its core: the science fiction elements, the space-inspired product names, the thoughtful campiness of the genre, and expand it with an entertaining activation. But the books couldn’t just be a simple genre parody, everything had to be centered around sake. This would help differentiate Farthest Star from the countless beer breweries in the area, and expand its reach on social, engage its customers on premise, and build off of our previous award-winning work to make this sake brewery a destination for all New England sake lovers.
